X-Games
Millions tuned in on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC to watch Philadelphia
play host to the 2001 & 2002 Summer X Games. At Dougherty
Electric, we were pleased to play a part in helping that happen.
Employees from both our electrical and telecommunications
divisions were called upon by ESPN and Comcast Spectacor to
install entirely the main temporary electric system, audio/video
systems cabling, and fiber optic infrastructure for the Games.
Cabling was done on-site at the First Union Complex as well
as at various remote venues, such as the Kelly Drive locale
that hosted street luge and wake boarding events. During the
course of the games, despite major network demands and a heat
index in excess of 115 degrees, Dougherty's staff amassed
over 3,000 man-hours and completed the job both on time and
on budget.

NBA
Finals
Much
like the rest of the region, Dougherty Electric, Inc. was
thrilled with the playoff run of the 76ers. It was our pleasure
then, naturally, to work with the NBA, NBC Sports, and the
First Union Center during the NBA Finals. Working strenuous
hours to accommodate the busy First Union Complex schedule
(games 3, 4, and 5 along with U2 concert dates) and dedicating
a telecommunications team exclusively to the event, Dougherty
powered the NBC Sports & NBA remote compound. Stressing
complete customer service and drawing from an undying pride
in Philadelphia, we were happy to complete this job on budget
and help audiences local and the nation over watch our Sixers
fight for the championship.
