Energizing
the Community
This
city needs more companies like Dougherty Electric. Don and his
employees never hesitate to volunteer their time to neighborhood
clubs and community groups undertaking charitable projects.
Without
their assistance, many of these endeavors would go unfinished.
It's
nice to know that if a boys or girls club in my area needs electrical
work, I can pick up the phone and count on Dougherty Electric.

Charity
Begins at Home:
I
just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your outstanding
work in the community. More recently, the work performed at St.
Agnes Hospital.
Over
the years, you have performed various charitable projects throughout
my district and beyond with such professionalism. Dougherty Electric's
commitment and dedication has been an asset to the community.
It
is a pleasure to have this business in my district.
State Rep. Bill Keller, 184 th Legislative District
"I
am writing on behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and
volunteers
of the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House to thank you for your
generous donation of dinner on August 26, 2003, for our
families...What a great evening-great food, and the clowns,
balloons, and face-painting festivities were so
appreciated...Thank you for supporting our mission and helping us
to take care of over 1,750 families per year. Your friendship and
generous support of the House are truly appreciated."

Spirit:
Dougherty
Electric is that very rare Philadelphia business that is known
for both their quality and good deeds, and the City would be much
better off if we had more like them. The quality of their work
is unparalleled, as they are truly masters of their craft and
always complete their projects in a very timely and dependable
manner.
But
their work in service of the community is what makes them so unique,
as they have always contributed their time and services to numerous
charitable projects in the neighborhood.
Further,
they employ many City residents and have kept their business in
the City when many of their competitors have chosen not to.
The
support they have accumulated from various organzations, officials,
and neighborhood groups is impressive and clearly a credit to
the good work that Dougherty Electric does, and I greatly appreciate
having them as one of my corporate constituents

Investing
in People:
All
of his men are union employees. Most of them are neighbors. 'Thanks
to Johnny Doc,' he says, 'we have a wealth of talent in this neighborhood.
Most of the kids move into apprenticeships in Local 98 following
their dads and brothers and uncles.'
Dougherty
knows he makes an impact on the younger high school students in
the neighborhood. 'They know they can't come to work here,' he
says, 'unless they complete high school and do some college level
work. They need that as part of their apprentice qualifications
if they intend to make it into the union.'
Gus
says, 'We love to serve our community. It's why we work
hard to better this community . . . we like to give back.'
